Assessments and forecasts
The global pepper market is shifting to a post-harvest tightening phase, especially in Vietnam, where farmers reduce selling and begin to limit export supply. Vietnam is still the main supplier, but supply conditions are increasingly tightened.
Vietnam's 2026 crop output is estimated at about 170,000-180,000 tons, down about 15-20% compared to 2025. The reason is due to the impact of weather, old orchards and farmers converting crop area. In addition, forecasts about El Niño also increase uncertainty about supply, causing futures prices to add weather risk factors.
