At the regular press conference on the afternoon of April 23, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports spoke out about the case of rapper B Ray causing controversy with a rap line considered offensive on livestream.
Accordingly, the Department's leaders said that they have grasped the feedback from public opinion and are coordinating with relevant agencies to consider the case. The assessment will be based on legal regulations as well as standards of conduct in the current art field.
Previously, in mid-April 2026, B Ray (real name Tran Thien Thanh Bao) became the focus of discussion on social networks after a rap scene in a livestream with some young artists. In which, the rap line "Because I want to sleep with all you beautiful girls" quickly spread and faced many mixed opinions.
A part of the audience believes that this content is not standard, is teasing and degrades the image of women, especially when expressed in public space. Some expert opinions also believe that such expressions are easily offensive and not suitable for the social responsibility of artists.
Faced with public reaction, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports emphasized the importance of standard behavior in artistic activities, especially in the digital environment. The management agency said that it regularly propagates and encourages artists to spread positive values, and at the same time well implements Decision 3196/QD-BVHTTDL on rules of conduct for people working in the arts.
This rule requires artists to promote ethical standards, build a beautiful image in front of the public, thereby enhancing responsibility to the audience and society. In the context of livestream platforms and social networks becoming increasingly popular, each statement or performance content can spread quickly, widely impacting the public, especially young people.
Notably, this is not the first time B Ray has been involved in controversies related to product content. In 2023, the male rapper caused a reaction with the song "To Whom" because the lyrics were considered negative and offensive. At the beginning of 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports invited artists to work, after which this product was removed from digital platforms.
