Assessments and forecasts
The decrease in pepper prices in the first days of April 2026 to below the threshold of 140,000 VND/kg reflects increased selling pressure as the supply after harvest is brought to the market in large quantities.
Meanwhile, demand has not shown clear signs of recovery. For Vietnamese pepper, competitive pressure is increasing, especially when countries like Indonesia and Brazil maintain better prices.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Plant Association (VPSA), preliminary statistics for the first quarter of 2026 show that Vietnam exported 30,638 tons of pepper of all kinds, including 26,190 tons of black pepper and 4,448 tons of white pepper. Total export turnover reached 199.3 million USD, black pepper reached 167.3 million USD, white pepper reached 32 million USD.
