Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee has just issued a Plan to implement the Project "Producing and reducing emissions in the crop sector in the period 2025 - 2035, vision to 2050" in the province.
The plan aims to gradually transform crop production methods towards low emissions, associated with reducing input costs, improving economic efficiency and stabilizing output for farmers; contributing to the implementation of the goal of developing ecological and sustainable agriculture in the province.
According to the Plan, by 2035, 100% of the rice area in Dong Thap province will apply low-emission and sustainable farming processes; reduce greenhouse gas emissions in crop production by at least 20% compared to traditional farming methods.

Along with that, at least 60% of the main fruit tree area in Dong Thap is applied with low-emission farming processes, effectively using irrigation water, fertilizers, pesticides and crop by-products; gradually expanding to other crops suitable to ecological conditions and market requirements.
For the income of people participating in low-emission crop production, the goal is to increase by at least 30% compared to traditional farming methods.
Organize training and coaching of at least 500 turns of technical staff, grassroots staff, agricultural extension staff, cooperatives, businesses and farmers on emission reduction farming techniques, measuring tools, reporting, appraisal and application of digital science and technology in cultivation.
Vision to 2050, Dong Thap will complete the conversion of the province's crop sector to low-emission, modern and sustainable production methods; effectively adapt to climate change; use resources economically and efficiently; protect the ecological environment and biodiversity.
