Yen lacks momentum as Japan cuts budget
In the trading session on February 28, the Japanese Yen (JPY) increased against the USD at times but quickly lost most of its increase. The main reason is the widespread strength of the US dollar, while the Japanese government has announced a plan to cut the budget. However, expectations that the Bank of Japan (BoJ) will continue to raise interest rates this year help limit the Yen's depreciation.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced a budget cut for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to 115.2 trillion yen. At the same time, the government will also reduce the amount of newly issued bonds to 28.6 trillion yen.
These measures show that Japan is implementing a fiscal tightening policy, which could ease inflationary pressures but also pose many challenges for the economy. See more...

The decline in domestic coffee prices is mainly due to the impact of the international market. In addition, supply from Brazil and Vietnam continues to increase, creating pressure on prices.

In the international market, Robusta and Arabica coffee prices both decreased slightly. Robusta lost about 28 - 36 USD/ton per day, while Arabica decreased by 0.5 - 1.6 cents/lb. Compared to the beginning of the week, Robusta lost more than 30 USD/ton, while Arabica decreased by an average of 1 - 2 cents/lb. See more...
