Flower prices increase more than last year
Nghia Hiep village (Ve Giang commune, Quang Ngai province) is one of the largest Tet chrysanthemum specialized areas in the Central region. However, this is also a "flood center", often suffering from storms and floods. In 2025, continuous storms and floods poured down on flower gardens, many times chrysanthemum growers had to "hold their breath" to keep flowers from natural disasters. However, with a spirit of endurance and hard work, local people still diligently stick to the garden, taking care of each green chrysanthemum pot, preparing to bring spring colors to Tet flower markets inside and outside the province.

Mr. Bui Dinh Hoang (resident of Dong Vien village, Ve Giang commune) said that his family grows more than 1,500 pots of chrysanthemums, with many sizes from 50cm to 1m. Although there is still more than a month until Tet Nguyen Dan, all the flowers have been ordered by traders from Quang Nam. "Not only my garden but most gardens in the village have people who have placed deposits to buy them all. The price of flowers this year is also higher than every year, so everyone is excited," Mr. Hoang shared.
Also in Dong Vien village, Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc said that his family's flower garden of more than 1,500 chrysanthemum pots in sizes from 60cm to 1m had been deposited by traders from mid-month ago. Thanks to the beautiful flowers, even shape, large buds, this year's selling price is higher than every year. "At the beginning of the season, continuous storms caused flowers to be affected by fungi, pests, and many deaths. But at the end of the season, the weather was more favorable, flowers developed well, bloomed right on time for Tet. After deducting expenses, my family made a profit of hundreds of millions of VND," Mr. Phuoc excitedly said.
According to gardeners, production costs have increased significantly this year, especially fertilizers and pesticides. Prolonged rainy weather at the beginning of the season also caused a higher loss rate. However, thanks to large market demand while many other flower growing areas were damaged by floods and reduced supply, Tet chrysanthemum prices in Nghia Hiep increased sharply, compensating for costs and bringing quite good profits to flower growers.
This year, flower prices increased sharply partly due to floods in many localities causing damage to flower growing areas, reduced supply, while market demand for Tet is still high, causing flower prices to rise," Mr. Phuoc added.
Gardeners make high profits
This year, the average price of Tet chrysanthemums in general increased compared to the 2025 Tet crop from 10,000 - 50,000 VND/pot, depending on size and quality.
Specifically, 50cm size chrysanthemums are bought by traders at prices from 140,000 - 150,000 VND/pot, an increase of 10,000 - 20,000 VND compared to last year. 80cm size chrysanthemums are priced at about 500,000 VND/pot. For 1m tall chrysanthemums, the price ranges from 1.2 - 1.4 million VND/pot, an increase of 30,000 - 50,000 VND, depending on the shape of the tree and the uniformity of the buds.

For households growing from 1,000 - 1,500 small and medium-sized chrysanthemum pots, after deducting costs, gardeners can earn a profit of hundreds of millions of VND. Households growing large quantities of 1m size pots can earn a profit of hundreds of millions to several hundred million VND. According to people's estimates, currently more than 80% of the total Tet chrysanthemum production in Nghia Hiep is pre-ordered and purchased by traders.
These days, the Tet atmosphere has begun to spread throughout the flower village. Nghia Hiep farmers are entering the final stage of the process of caring for, adjusting the canopy, and nurturing buds before selling to the market. The fact that flowers are bought clean from before they bloom not only helps growers feel secure about output, but also opens up a "valuable" Tet crop, promising a full and warm Tet for families attached to flower fields for many months.
Nghia Hiep flower village (Ve Giang commune, Quang Ngai province) - known as the "capital" of Central Vietnamese chrysanthemums - currently has about 500 flower growers, supplying more than 250,000 pots of chrysanthemums of all kinds to the market inside and outside the province each year. In January 2023, the Intellectual Property Office recognized the "Nghia Hiep Flower" trademark, making Nghia Hiep the first flower village in Quang Ngai to be granted a trademark protection certificate.
