Coming into operation from December 2022, Nguyen Thuong Hien food street (District 3) is expected to become an attractive destination for food and entertainment for domestic and foreign tourists. However, after nearly 2 years, up to now, this food street is often deserted and deserted.
At around 8pm on November 23, even though it was a weekend (Saturday), the number of visitors to the street was quite low. Many shops were deserted, with only occasional visitors.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, a small business owner at Nguyen Thuong Hien food street, said that on the opening day, the number of customers was very good but it did not last long.
"Customers have gradually decreased over time. Now there are only about 50-70 customers per day. I can only sell moderately," said Mr. Tien.
Ms. Tran Anh Thu, a vendor in the food street, is also facing a similar situation. According to Ms. Thu, Nguyen Thuong Hien food street near Ho Thi Ky food street (District 10) has been established for a long time and is famous, so it is difficult to compete.
Ms. Thu said that Nguyen Thuong Hien street is often crowded with traffic and the food is not very diverse, so it cannot keep customers coming for a long time.
Located about 50m from Mrs. Thu's store, Ms. Chu Thi Duyen's juice shop only has a few customers coming to buy and take away.
Ms. Duyen said that she started opening a business in this food street more than a year ago, with a rental price of 10 million VND/month.
"I sell about 100 glasses of water a day, just enough to keep going and not make much profit," Ms. Duyen shared.
Nguyen Thuong Hien Food Street is 368m long, at the time of establishment there were 143 businesses, including 92 food service businesses (noodles, milk tea, mixed rice paper, snacks...) and 51 other businesses and services (clothes, shoes, hair accessories...).
