Hanoi - Information that Hanoi is considering relocating and clearing Nha Xanh market has received agreement from many students, even though this is a familiar shopping area.

Information that the city is considering relocating and clearing Nha Xanh market (Cau Giay ward) is receiving attention from many people living in the area, especially students.

Although the market has been associated with student life for many years, many people believe that rearranging is necessary to ensure urban aesthetics and traffic safety.

With many items from clothes, shoes to food and necessities, the market was once considered a destination with prices suitable for students.

However, before voters' recommendations on clearing the market area to ensure fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation and urban order, the Hanoi People's Committee said that the relocation and clearance of the market will be considered and implemented synchronously with the Phan Van Truong road expansion project according to the plan.

During the time before the project is implemented, the City People's Committee requests the Cau Giay Ward People's Committee to continue to manage and exploit the market in accordance with regulations; and at the same time strengthen inspection of fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation, and handle the situation of encroachment on roads and sidewalks.

According to Cau Giay Ward People's Committee, Nha Xanh market is a grade 3 market, playing a role in supplying goods and necessities to people in the area, students and neighboring areas. However, the locality is also facing difficulties when there is no suitable land fund to arrange a new market or temporary business location to serve the relocation.

Before the information that Hanoi is considering a plan to relocate and clear Nha Xanh market, many students - who regularly live and shop in this area - expressed their agreement, and at the same time said that rearranging the market space is necessary to improve urban aesthetics and limit traffic congestion.

Nguyen Tuan Anh - a 3rd year student at the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda - said that as soon as he came to Hanoi to study, he was quite surprised to see a market area with many shops and stalls displaying goods overflowing into the roadway area.

According to the male student, the relocation of the market may make many people regret it because this is a familiar place, but if it is reorganized reasonably, it will help the area become more airy, especially during crowded hours.

Nguyen Thi Hoa - a 2nd year student at the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda - said: "I think rearranging is necessary to make the area more beautiful, less crowded and messy. Personally, I don't usually buy clothes and shoes here.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Hoang Tu - a 4th-year student at Hanoi National University of Education - said that the biggest problem when traveling through this area is congestion, especially during student dismissal or peak hours.

There are times when going through the market is very uncomfortable because the road is crowded, many people stop to buy goods, and vehicles jostle each other. If re-planned, the travel of people and students will be more convenient" - Tu shared.

Besides agreeing opinions, many students also hope that if the market is relocated, the city needs to have appropriate plans to maintain affordable shopping points to serve the needs of the people.

Cau Giay Ward People's Committee said that in the coming time, the locality plans to deploy investment in Phan Van Truong street and connecting roads according to the plan. At the same time, the ward has developed a plan for development and management of the market in the 2026-2030 period, which proposes to renovate and upgrade Cau Giay market to have a plan to arrange suitable business households after completion.
