Last week, on December 27, in Decision No. 1666/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister reappointed General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army - to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense. The decision takes effect from December 31, 2024.
Previously, on December 31, 2019, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1966/QD-TTg appointing General Nguyen Tan Cuong to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong was born on February 12, 1966, hometown: Tien Ngoai Commune, Duy Tien Town, Ha Nam Province. General Nguyen Tan Cuong is a member of the Party Central Committee of the terms: XI (alternate), XII, XIII. Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong was promoted to the rank of General in October 2024.
Also related to personnel work, last week, on the afternoon of December 27, the Ministry of National Defense organized a ceremony to present the President's Decision to officers going on a UN peacekeeping mission at the United Nations Interim Security Mission in Abyei (UNISFA).
Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Deputy Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations - chaired the ceremony.
Accordingly, Major Hoang Dinh Cong was assigned to replace Captain Le Khuong Duy as Light Engineering Staff Officer at the UNISFA Mission.
In his assignment speech, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested Major Hoang Dinh Cong to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the foreign policy of the Party, State and Army; strictly comply with military discipline, regulations of the United Nations, laws of the host country, instructions of competent agencies and the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department.
Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan suggested that Major Hoang Dinh Cong should promote the tradition of the Army and the Vietnamese Blue Beret force, demonstrate their bravery and capacity, spread the good image of the country and people of Vietnam, the Vietnam People's Army in the international arena; and ensure absolute safety of people and equipment.
Major Hoang Dinh Cong emphasized that after making good preparations in all aspects, he was ready to depart for the United Nations peacekeeping mission at the UNISFA Mission with the highest enthusiasm and determination.
Major Hoang Dinh Cong promised to always maintain internal and international solidarity; strictly comply with the laws of the State and the host country, military discipline, and regulations of the United Nations; regularly study and evaluate the situation to proactively ensure security, safety, and promptly handle situations when performing tasks; and excellently complete the tasks assigned by the United Nations and the Ministry of National Defense.
