The atmosphere of preparation for the walking program "Marching forward with Vietnam" organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security is heating up in all provinces and cities across the country.
This is the first walking activity organized at the national level, part of a series of sports - cultural - artistic - interactive events to celebrate the August Revolution, National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and Traditional Day of the People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).
The program is implemented in two forms: online and in person. With online form, people nationwide can register to walk every day through the event's official website.
For those who directly participate, from 6am to 7:30am on August 16, 2025 in all localities across the country, everyone will simultaneously wear red shirts with yellow stars, sing the National Anthem, and move forward for a united, strong and sustainable Vietnam.
A special point is that on the morning of August 16, before the national walking activity, the program will have a live connection (livestreaming on the platform of Nhan Dan Newspaper) with the Flag Raising Ceremony at Ba Dinh Square. It is expected that 10,000 people will participate in the event live in Hanoi and sing the National Anthem, joining in the beat towards the Fatherland.
At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to have 90,000 attendees. For other provinces and cities nationwide, it is expected that 5,000 - 6,000 people will directly participate in each locality. The number of people walking directly nationwide is expected to be 200,000 people.
As of 8:00 a.m. on August 14, the number of people registering online on the official website of the "Marching with Vietnam" program has reached nearly 56,000 people, corresponding to more than 202 million steps and reducing emissions by more than 22,600kg of CO2.
With the main message of "1 billion steps towards the new era", the event is expected to mobilize the collective strength of millions of people across the country to participate in walking, marking 1 billion steps for health, solidarity and aspiration to rise up of a nation that is changing strongly in the new era.
According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Steering Committee for "Marching Along with Vietnam", this program has been long cherished by the Organizing Committee and became a reality with the close coordination of the Ministry of Public Security.
"In addition to the goal of improving public health, the program also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions, towards a green lifestyle" - Mr. Le Quoc Minh emphasized.
