On the morning of February 26, the National Election Council organized a national online conference to deploy the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman, Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man chaired the conference.
The conference was connected online with 34 provincial-level bridge points and 3,321 commune-level bridge points.
Presenting a report at the conference, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Assembly Office, Chief of Office of the National Election Council Le Quang Manh said that so far, the election preparation work has basically been deployed proactively and methodically, in accordance with the requirements of the Politburo, the Secretariat and the National Election Council.
Regarding the personnel candidates for National Assembly deputies, based on the results of the 3rd Consultation Conference, the National Election Council issued a resolution announcing the list of 864 official candidates for the 16th National Assembly in 182 constituencies.
In which, the number of candidates introduced by the Central Government is 217 people; localities have 647 people; there are 4 self-nominated candidates, a rate of 0.46%, ensuring the surplus according to regulations, in accordance with the orientation on structure and composition.
Regarding personnel candidates for People's Council deputies at all levels, according to Mr. Le Quang Manh, the total number of provincial-level People's Council deputies elected is 2,554 people.
The total number of People's Council candidates according to the official list is 4,223 people, reaching a rate of 1.65 candidates per 1 elected delegate.
At the commune level, the total number of delegates elected according to law is 72,613 people.

The preparation, review, and listing of voter lists are being implemented seriously and in accordance with regulations. According to reports from 34/34 provinces and cities, the whole country has a total of 73,457,255 voters going to the polls in 72,195 polling stations.
Voter lists are publicly posted at locations in accordance with legal deadlines.
Regarding voter contact, election campaigning, and training for first-time candidates, immediately after the official list of candidates is announced, candidates will conduct voter contact and election campaigning according to plan.
Regarding supervision and inspection of election work, at the Central level, the National Election Council has coordinated with the National Assembly Standing Committee to complete 2 phases of supervision and inspection in 24 provinces and cities.
Regarding the organization of early election voting, at the request of the Election Commissions of 11 provinces and cities, the National Election Council has issued a document allowing 218 polling stations in provinces and cities to conduct early voting.
In the coming time, the National Election Council and relevant agencies will focus on leading, directing, and synchronously and closely implementing many important tasks.
In which, organize voting and ballot counting strictly, objectively, and in accordance with the law; report promptly and accurately. Summarize and announce results on time (no later than March 25); resolve complaints and denunciations according to authority.
