According to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal, General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense - has just issued directives related to military enrollment work in 2026.
In which, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested the Military Enrollment Board of the Ministry of National Defense and agencies, units, and schools throughout the army to proactively advise the Ministry of National Defense to amend and promulgate the Military Enrollment Circular in accordance with the enrollment regulations for 2026 and develop guiding documents for the implementation of military enrollment work in 2026; consolidate the organization of the Military Enrollment Boards at all levels;
Deploying military enrollment methods, including strictly organizing the Competency Assessment Exam on computers for candidates registering for admission at 3 military schools: Military Technical Academy, School of Information Officers, Military Officer School No. 2 according to plan.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong also requested to continue to promote propaganda and career guidance in many rich and modern forms; strengthen coordination between agencies inside and outside the Army, between schools and localities; apply information technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) in admission counseling, create social consensus and attract quality candidates.
Military schools continue to complete and upgrade electronic information pages with separate sections on enrollment information, create fan pages on social networks, and strengthen direct propaganda at high schools. Each school organizes propaganda and career guidance in 2-3 provinces and cities; each province and city propagates from 10-15 high schools.
Notably, General Nguyen Tan Cuong also requested the Military Enrollment Boards at all levels to organize well the preliminary selection, examination, admission, and handover of admitted candidates; strictly implement health check-ups, early-term work and post-enrollment inspection; ensure publicity, transparency, accuracy, and avoid errors and complaints.
Strictly implement the work of enrolling military intermediate level, enrolling postgraduate training, enrolling according to the quota system, enrolling young soldiers and enrolling civilian system training, meeting the requirements of training and using cadres and personnel of the Army in the new situation.
Also according to the Ministry of National Defense, in 2025, military academies and schools will conduct enrollment according to 3 admission methods, ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.
In 2025, the number of applications registered for military university training reached 32,263 applications, an increase of 39.81% compared to 2024; military college training had 767 applications, an increase of 149.03% compared to 2024; basic military majors, the number of applications registered for university is 227, college is 31 applications.
