On October 31, the Border Guard Command held a conference to announce the Decision to merge and reorganize the Logistics Department and the Technical Department into the Logistics - Technical Department under the Border Guard.
Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of the Border Guard, chaired the conference.
Attending the conference were leaders of the Border Guard Command; representatives of the Ministry of National Defense; leaders and commanders of affiliated agencies and units, and officers and staff of the Logistics Department and the Technical Department.
At the conference, delegates heard the announcement of the Decision of the Minister of National Defense on merging and reorganizing the Logistics Department and the Technical Department into the Logistics - Technical Department under the Border Guard; the Decision of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army on promulgating the organization and staffing chart of the Logistics - Technical Department under the Border Guard.
On behalf of the Party Committee Standing Committee and the Head of the Border Guard Command, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai acknowledged and commended the agencies and units for actively doing a good job in preparing for the merger; at the same time, he emphasized that the merger of the Logistics Department and the Technical Department into the Logistics - Technical Department is a major policy, aiming to thoroughly grasp the Party and State's viewpoints on building a lean, strong, and modern Army in the current situation, in line with reality, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
The Border Guard Commander requested the Party Committee and the commander of the Logistics and Engineering Department to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the High Command on the task of building the Army in the new situation; unify awareness from the Party Committee, commanders to officers and employees, create consensus from top to bottom, and build determination in organizing and implementing tasks.
The Logistics and Engineering Department quickly stabilized and consolidated the Party organization, command organization and unions, deployed activities in accordance with functions and tasks; strictly implemented the organizational structure and job titles; organized and assigned specific and clear tasks, completed all assigned tasks well, built a clean and strong Logistics and Engineering Department Party Committee, a comprehensively strong unit "exemplary model".
