On January 14, 2026, the Cao Bang Provincial Military Command (CHQS) held a conference to announce the Minister of National Defense's decision on reorganizing the Commune-level Military Command directly under the Provincial Military Command.
The conference was chaired by Mr. Phan Thang An - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Military Party Committee; attended by Major General Dam Minh Tuan - Deputy Commander of Military Region I, along with leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and agencies.
At the conference, the Provincial Military Command announced the decision to reorganize the commune-level Military Command and awarded decisions to transfer and appoint 56 Commanders of Military Commands of communes in the area.
The organizational consolidation aims to streamline staff, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations of grassroots armed forces.
Speaking to direct, Provincial Party Secretary Phan Thang An emphasized the important role of the commune-level military force in linking socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security, especially in border provinces like Cao Bang.
He requested units to soon stabilize their organization, firmly grasp the area, improve the quality of training, build strong militia and self-defense forces, contributing to maintaining security and order right from the grassroots level.
Representatives of appointed officials affirmed that they will strive to complete the assigned tasks well.
