General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense chaired the meeting.
Attending the meeting were former President Nguyen Minh Triet; former President Truong Tan Sang; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, and former leaders of the Party and State through the periods; retired generals and senior military officers, and representatives commanding agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang expressed his excitement and joy to welcome and meet again the retired and retired senior military officials from different periods.
According to General Phan Van Giang, retired senior military officers have devoted almost their entire lives to the cause of building the military and strengthening national defense; many had to sacrifice part of their blood and health on the battlefields in the fight to liberate the nation, protect the Fatherland, and carry out noble international duties.
General Phan Van Giang suggested that retired and retired senior military officers, with their bravery, intelligence, experience, responsibility, and enthusiasm, will always preserve and spread the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" in life to live healthy, happy, and joyful lives with their families, clans, hometowns, and places of residence.
On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang gave an overview of the world, regional and domestic current affairs and the plots, tricks and sabotage activities of hostile forces; outstanding results in military and defense work, Party building of the Army in 2024 and key directions and tasks in 2025.
According to General Phan Van Giang, officers and soldiers of the entire army hope that retired and retired senior military officers will pay attention, encourage, and stand side by side with the Central Military Commission, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, Party committees, and commanders of agencies and units to excellently complete all tasks entrusted to them by the Party, State, and people.
