The Vietnam Military History Museum is one of the six national museums, the first museum in the Military Museum system, established on July 17, 1956, located at 28A Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi City. The museum currently displays and preserves about 150,000 artifacts, including 4 national treasures.
In 2019, the Vietnam Military History Museum was newly built by the Ministry of National Defense, on an area of 386,600m2, in Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi. With a scale of 4 floors above ground and 1 basement, the construction area is 23,198m2.
The display system on the first floor introduces thousands of artifacts, organized and arranged in a modern, scientific, and rich way, applying advanced technology of international museums, such as: 3D mapping model, information lookup screen, photo media, automatic audio guide and QR code to look up information about artifacts...
The system of documents and artifacts at the museum comprehensively reflects the history of the struggle against foreign invaders and for independence of the Vietnamese people; the formation and development of the people's armed forces, the core of which is the Vietnam People's Army during revolutionary periods; more than 60 video clips, introducing campaigns, battles and historical figures, bringing visitors a completely new experience.
From November 1, 2024, in a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, the Vietnam Military History Museum officially opened, serving visitors and offering free admission until the end of December 2024, at the address: Km 6+500 Thang Long Avenue, Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi.
