On August 26, according to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal, this agency has just issued Consolidated Document No. 36/VBHN-BQP Circular regulating the selection and calling of citizens for military service.
Regarding the scope of regulation and subjects of application, this Circular regulates the selection and calling of citizens for military service; the responsibility of agencies, organizations and individuals in selecting and calling of citizens for military service (hereinafter referred to as military recruitment).
This Circular applies to People's Committees (UBND) at all levels, agencies, units, organizations and individuals involved in the organization and implementation of military recruitment.
According to the consolidated circular, the selection and calling of citizens for military service must ensure proper implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and procedures and regulations in military recruitment work;
Enrolling in sufficient quantity, ensuring quality, taking standards from high to low; implementing democracy, fairness, publicity, safety and economy;
Enhance the responsibility of all organizations and individuals to improve the quality of military recruitment work;
At the same time, focus on selecting and calling up citizens who have graduated from university, college, and ethnic minorities to improve the quality of building a permanent force and a reserve force to encourage, contributing to creating a source to build a strong local political foundation, strengthen national defense and security, and firmly protect the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
With the above principle, the age requirement for military recruitment applies to citizens from 18 years old to 25 years old.
Notably, for male citizens who have been trained at college or university level and have been temporarily deferred from military service during a training course of a training level, they will be selected and called up for military service until the age of 27.
Regarding political standards, the selection and calling of citizens for military service must comply with Joint Circular No. 50/2016/TTLT-BQP-BCA dated April 15, 2016 of the Minister of National Defense - Minister of Public Security stipulating political standards for selecting citizens to serve in the Vietnam People's Army;
In particular, for agencies, units and key secret positions in the Army; infantry, Ceremonial forces; Professional Guard and Military Control forces, selection will be conducted according to the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.
