Damage to many schools
In Thanh Hoa, the Department of Education and Training said that 2 schools were directly affected: Thieu Duong Primary School was flooded, Nam Xuan Kindergarten had its roof blown off. The fence system at 3 other schools also collapsed with a total length of 33m, including: Thieu Do Primary School, Thieu Ly Secondary School and Tam Lu Kindergarten.
These damages occurred right before the new school year, causing many localities to urgently overcome them to ensure the opening schedule. The government and parents are mobilized to support and implement the "four on-site" motto to soon stabilize facilities and ensure safety for students.
In Nghe An, the leader of the Department of Education and Training informed that storm No. 5 had blown off the roofs and flooded many schools. The damage statistics are being conducted urgently, in the immediate future, the education sector will direct schools to mobilize on-site forces, coordinate with the government and parents to overcome the damage. Schools that have suffered heavy damage will have a summary report submitted to the competent authority to soon have support funds.

In Ha Tinh alone, the Department of Education and Training initially recorded a large level of damage to 156 affected educational institutions, with an estimated cost of more than 121 billion VND. kindergartens have 52 damaged schools (estimated at VND 88.2 billion), 24 primary schools (VND 3.5 billion), 22 secondary schools (VND 7.2 billion), 44 high schools (VND 19.3 billion) and 9 vocational education - continuing education centers (VND 815 million).
Many high schools in Ha Tinh recorded very heavy damage. Mai Thuc Loan High School had its roof of more than 4,000m2 of classrooms and practice buildings blown off, and 60m of fence collapsed. Nghi Xuan High School had 600m of walls collapsed, the roof was blown off and many items collapsed.

A series of other schools such as Cam Binh, Hong Linh, Ha Huy Tap, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Cam Xuyen, Nguyen Dong Chi... also had their fences collapsed, their classroom roofs blown off, and hundreds of trees broken.
Urgently overcome, prepare for opening
Faced with the great damage, the education sector of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces has established many working groups to the grassroots to grasp the situation and directly direct the overcoming of the consequences. All schools are required to arrange forces to be on duty, protect facilities, and transport teaching equipment to safe places.
In Ha Tinh, the Department of Education and Training requested to postpone meetings, focusing on priority for remedial work. Thanks to timely direction, there were no human casualties, limiting the level of damage to facilities. The industry also directs when there are new safe conditions for students to return to school.
In addition to emergency repair and remediation, localities also have long-term plans: prepare funding sources, increase safety inspection of schools, and supplement natural disaster prevention equipment. On the other hand, propaganda work to parents and students has been promoted, in order to raise awareness, share difficulties, and support the school to soon stabilize the new school year.
Despite the heavy damage, with the proactiveness of the education sector and local authorities, along with the spirit of solidarity of the people, the recovery of the consequences of storm No. 5 is being urgently implemented. The provinces are determined to complete the repair of facilities and ensure the safety of schools, so that the opening day of the 2025-2026 school year can go on schedule.
