On August 18 in Hanoi, the 45th Artillery Brigade celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day (August 22, 1945 - August 22, 2025) and received the Second Class Military Exploit Order, VNA reported.
The 45th Artillery Brigade, formerly the 19th Corps - the liberation army, was established on August 22, 1945 in Lac Quan Military Region, Xuan Truong District, Nam Dinh Province (now Xuan Truong Commune, Ninh Binh Province).
During the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the Brigade was honored to be the first unit to fire a series of shells at the Him Lam base cluster.
Entering the resistance war against the US to save the country, the unit was present on most fronts, major campaigns, marking a mark with many typical victories, and was one of the units that fired the last round of shells into the General Staff at 10:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, contributing to the victory in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
In response to the requirements and tasks in the new situation, in addition to the task of training combat readiness, the Brigade is currently one of the units assigned to perform the foreign and defense tasks of the Ministry of National Defense and the Artillery Corps to organize training and fireworks to welcome heads of state to visit Vietnam and fireworks at important events of the country, and here is the task of fireworks at the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Hong Phong - Commander of the Artillery Corps emphasized that, in the face of the increasingly high requirements and tasks of building the army, building the army and the task of defending the Fatherland, the entire Corps, including the 45th Artillery Brigade, must make more efforts to meet the requirements and tasks.
Notably, according to Major General Nguyen Hong Phong, the Artillery Corps is being invested in by the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to build and develop into a modern Artillery - Rocket Command.
Major General Nguyen Hong Phong also noted that the 45th Artillery Brigade focuses on building a clean, strong, exemplary Brigade Party Committee with comprehensive leadership capacity and high fighting strength; strictly maintaining the prescribed regime and order, creating a solid change in building regulations and disciplining discipline.
Previously, speaking at the 15th Congress of the Armed Forces Party Committee, term 2025-2030 held on July 17, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense - also suggested that the Armed Forces Party Committee should actively and proactively study and advise the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to promptly develop, announce, promulgate and implement the project to establish the Armed Forces - Rocket Command.
According to Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, this is a new, elite, modern organizational model, meeting the requirements and tasks of protecting the Fatherland in the new era.
