On the morning of August 26, Mr. Ngo Dinh Van - Vice President of the Ha Tinh Labor Federation said that many union members and workers in the area were severely affected, including families with deep flooding, roofs blown off, and property damage. The Provincial Federation of Labor has directed grassroots unions to urgently review and count to promptly encourage and have support plans according to regulations.
In Nghe An, the Provincial Federation of Labor also recorded many union members and workers whose houses were damaged and had their roofs blown off. The unit has urgently requested trade unions at all levels to coordinate with local authorities to grasp the specific situation, conduct spiritual encouragement and material support, and help workers soon stabilize their lives.
According to preliminary statistics, in Ha Tinh, storm No. 5 left 1 person dead, 9 injured; 7 houses collapsed, 1,200 houses were deeply flooded, and more than 6,300 houses had their roofs blown off. In addition, 47 schools, 5 medical facilities, and 7 cultural works were also damaged.
In Nghe An, as of 5:30 a.m. on August 26, the locality had not recorded any direct human losses due to the storm, but there was 1 death due to electric shock while repairing the stormproof roof, along with 2 injuries. The whole province had 91 damaged houses, many houses with unroofed roofs, 9 classrooms of 2 schools and 1 medical facility with unroofed roofs.
Faced with these losses, Nghe An and Ha Tinh Labor Federation identified that working side by side with union members and workers as a key task, so they will urgently compile statistics, evaluate and deploy timely support to the right beneficiaries, in order to help union members and workers soon overcome difficulties after the storm.
