Minister of Home Affairs informs about streamlining internal apparatus

The Ministry of Home Affairs was assigned an unprecedented amount of work and had to do it in what could be described as a lightning-fast time frame.

Speaking to the press on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that the Party Central Committee has approved a plan to reorganize and streamline the apparatus of the political system.

Streamline internal organization

According to Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, a number of ministries and branches have reorganized and streamlined their internal apparatus, including: The Ministry of Education and Training currently has 24 units (including the General Department of Vocational Education from the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs), after the reorganization there are 18 units left.

The Ministry of Health currently has 24 units (including 3 units received from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs), after the arrangement there are 20 units left.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently has 40 units (including 13 units received from the Central Commission for External Relations, Office of the National Assembly), after the arrangement there are 24 units left.

The Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions was established on the basis of the Ethnic Minorities Committee receiving the functions, tasks and organization of the state management apparatus on religion (Government Committee for Religious Affairs) from the Ministry of Home Affairs with 13 units, a reduction of 3 units.

The Ministry of National Defense took over the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board after restructuring and reducing 7 units including 1 general department, 4 departments and equivalents, 2 institutes and had a separate project to report to the Politburo.

The Ministry of Public Security received a number of additional functions and tasks from a number of other ministries and branches, including 6 state management tasks.

With the task of state management of immigration, the Ministry of Public Security maintains the current stability; promotes and strengthens coordination in data provision and data connection.

In addition, the Ministry of Public Security is conducting research on abolishing district police according to a separate project reported to the Politburo.

The Ministry of Justice has 20 units, a decrease of 5 units.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has 22 units, a decrease of 6 units.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism currently has 30 units, after taking over the state management function of press and publishing from the Ministry of Information and Communications and reorganizing it to 25 units, a reduction of 5 units.

The Government Office has 17 units, a decrease of 3 units.

The Government Inspectorate has 16 units, a decrease of 3 compared to before (15.8%). The Government Inspectorate has a project to streamline the inspection system, operate effectively and efficiently, and report to the Politburo.

The State Bank of Vietnam has 19 units, down 4 units; at the same time, it is restructuring 63 provincial branches to 15 branches.

The remaining five Government agencies, including the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam, and Vietnam News Agency, also reorganized and reduced internal units.

"Nothing is impossible"

Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra shared that she had "lost sleep and appetite" when she started to develop a plan to reorganize and streamline the Government's apparatus, according to VNA.

The revolution to streamline the apparatus is one of the major decisions, of great significance and strong heat, spreading throughout the entire political system with the spirit of the whole Party, the whole people, and the whole.

As an advisory body to the Central Steering Committee and the Government Steering Committee, the Ministry of Home Affairs is assigned to carry out an unprecedented amount of work and must deploy it within a period of time that can be said to be lightning fast.

According to the Minister of Home Affairs, 2024 is a typical year of overcoming difficulties to rise up, a typical year of spirit, courage, self-reliance, dynamism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility and also a typical year of "nothing is impossible".

Only when there is pressure and difficulty will we find a way to do it. The more difficult it is, the more motivated we are to strive to fulfill the assigned tasks, for the goal of developing the country to become rich and strong in the new era.
