On the afternoon of June 16, the National Assembly discussed in the hall the draft Law on the participation of United Nations peacekeeping forces.
After listening to the opinions of National Assembly deputies on the draft Law, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense shared very realistically about the activities of the United Nations peacekeeping force (UN peacekeeping agency).

According to Minister Phan Van Giang, to date, Vietnam has sent nearly 1,100 officers and employees to participate in the Ministry of National Assembly expenditure activities at 3 Ministries and National Assembly Headquarters. It is expected that by September 2025, the Ministry of National Defense will send the medical team of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 7 and the Engineering Team No. 6 to the missions.
Minister Phan Van Giang assessed that Vietnam decided to register with the LHQ to join the peacekeeping force with the responsibility of being a member of the LHQ - "we determined to go late and cannot go behind".
Sharing about the situation at the missions where the Vietnam Security Forces are on duty, Minister Phan Van Giang said that the areas where the forces are stationed are facing difficulties in many aspects, from economy, transportation, harsh weather...
"Most of our officers and officers participating in the missions have basically suffered from malaria, although they have brought many types of medicine, the weather and climate are very harsh, so this disease strikes them like in the forest, very miserable," said Minister Phan Van Giang.
However, overcoming all difficulties and hardships, the Vietnam Fatherland Front always completes its tasks excellently.
All Vietnamese soldiers have actively participated in and organized meaningful practical activities such as people's diplomacy, children's education; organizing volunteer, cultural and artistic activities; instructing local people on cultivation to improve their lives; helping women with skills in child care, family care and epidemic prevention and hygiene...
According to Minister Phan Van Giang, the above activities are completely outside of professional work, but leave a deep impression on local people.
"I just regret not being able to build a house for the teachers, even though we have materials - that is what Comrade Mac Duc Trong (Deputy Director of the Vietnam Youth Union - PV) told me when he returned from the mission for the third time.
And what are the materials, the wooden boxes for packing goods that our army carries? It is very difficult," said Minister Phan Van Giang.

In this afternoon's discussion, expressing her appreciation and pride in the contributions of the National Assembly Standing Committee, delegate Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - National Assembly Delegate of Vinh Long province approved the reservation of special regimes and policies to ensure the best rights for those participating in this force, especially women.
However, delegate Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh said that the policy for women in the draft law is still not as priority and encouraged as many other countries. The delegate suggested concretizing and supplementing policies and regimes on working time, living, resting, vacation, rotation... to help women balance work and family.
Regarding this content, Minister Phan Van Giang said that female soldiers when participating in the GGHB force had people go twice, completely voluntarily, volunteering.
According to the Minister, many female soldiers who returned were promoted to military ranks ahead of schedule and given priority to work.
"There are female soldiers who, when they return, are allowed to join the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, now the Deputy Head of the Women's Committee of the army. Or there are female soldiers who, when holding the rank of Captain, after 1 year or more, are conferred the rank of Major before the term of office," said Minister Phan Van Giang, adding that the regimes and policies for the forces participating in the Border Guard, especially female soldiers, are of interest.
Minister Phan Van Giang also said that he will seriously accept the opinions of National Assembly deputies, and at the same time coordinate with relevant specialized agencies to develop a tight draft Law, ensuring consistency with relevant Laws to submit to the National Assembly for approval.
