On June 5, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to present the President's decision to officers performing United Nations peacekeeping missions (GGHB) at the Southern Sudan Provincial Delegation.
Senior General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Head of the Ministry of National Defense Steering Committee on participation in United Nations Security operations - chaired the ceremony.

Implementing the President's Decision, the Minister of National Defense sent Major Tran Viet Cuong to perform the United Nations Security Service mission, holding the position of Military Inspector at the Southern Sudan Military Commission (UNMISS).
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Major Tran Viet Cuong; and praised the Vietnam Military Command and related units for their good preparation, training and human resource creation for this important mission.
Assigning the task to Major Tran Viet Cuong, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien noted that it is necessary to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party's guidelines and policies, State laws and military discipline as well as the regulations of the United Nations and the laws of the host country; always maintain standard style, words and actions, demonstrate a sense of responsibility, proactively learn and cooperate with international colleagues, confidently demonstrate courage and professional capacity; ensure absolute safety throughout the working term.

Immediately after deploying to the mission, it is necessary to quickly grasp the local situation, immediately get to work, and perform well the assigned duties and tasks. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien believes that Major Tran Viet Cuong will successfully complete the tasks assigned by the United Nations Security Service, the State and the Army.
Reporting at the ceremony, Major General Pham Manh Thang - Director of the Vietnam Military Command - said that before being sent to work at the mission, Major Tran Viet Cuong had been well trained, meeting the requirements of the United Nations as well as the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam.
Major Tran Viet Cuong has participated in many training courses on Border Guard, such as: United Nations Consulting Officers course; Pre- trien lation Training course; United Nations Military Observer course.
In particular, participating as a trainee and a service force in two major drills including the bilateral exercise between Vietnam and India on the United Nations General Assembly in 2023 (VINBAX 2023) and the Capacity Assessment Program for Forces preparing to participate in the United Nations General Assembly activities, the Group of Experts on the 4th Round of the ASEAN Expanded Defense Ministers' Conference (ADMM+).
