On November 4, continuing the 8th Session, the National Assembly discussed in the hall the Assessment of the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan for 2024; the expected socio-economic development plan for 2025.
Speaking at the discussion session, delegate Nguyen Thi Thuy (Bac Kan delegation) spent all her time talking about special and unique mechanisms to support localities affected by storms and floods.
According to delegate Nguyen Thi Thuy, it has been more than a month since storm No. 3 passed. With the determination to care for the people of the Party, National Assembly, Government and the entire political system, along with noble gestures filled with comradeship, compatriots have eased many pains and losses after the storm.
This delegate also acknowledged that cars driving slowly to block the wind for motorcyclists, thousands of trucks carrying necessities following each other towards flooded areas, carrying millions of hearts... are proof of the precious traditions of the entire nation.
“Overseas, our compatriots also yearn for the North. Up to now, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has received more than 2,000 billion VND, all of which are carried out according to orders from the heart,” Ms. Thuy expressed.
Meanwhile, delegate Nguyen Van Huy (Thai Binh Delegation) acknowledged that the spirit of overcoming difficulties, solidarity, joint efforts and unanimity of the people across the country was clearly demonstrated after the recent storm No. 3.
However, delegate Nguyen Van Huy also raised the issue of how to provide relief safely and effectively and how to get relief goods to the right people and addresses?
This person said that, because urgent action is needed to support people in flood-hit areas, the establishment of relief teams often lacks professionalism, and moreover, in the context of natural disasters there are always many potential risks.
What is very condemnable, according to delegate Nguyen Van Huy, is that while there are many beautiful actions spreading the spirit of volunteerism, there are many "bad apples spoiling the barrel", taking advantage of natural disasters to profit and commit fraud. There are people who pretend to be flood victims to receive relief goods from spontaneous volunteer groups.
“Some people use images and information at locations damaged by storms and floods, impersonating members of associations and humanitarian organizations to call for donations and transfer money into personal accounts to appropriate money,” said delegate Nguyen Van Huy.
In addition, according to delegate Nguyen Van Huy, there were times when the charity work of some artists was questioned by public opinion. Organizing donations from the community in an amateurish and inexperienced manner resulted in sketchy revenue and expenditure reports, without invoices or documents, causing controversy, being involved in suspicions of embezzling charity money, and losing the trust of the audience.
“Recently, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front announced a statement of the donation amount to ensure transparency in the allocation and use of donations for people affected by storm No. 3.
However, after the statement was made public, many individuals were discovered to have taken advantage of the event, edited images, and inflated the amount of donations to polish their names" - this delegate reflected.
According to delegate Nguyen Van Huy, the keyword “phong tranh” has been spreading strongly in the online community in recent days, referring to a fake, pretentious, and ostentatious lifestyle. As a result, many individuals have become victims of verbal violence on social networks.
"Such acts not only violate ethics and the law but also seriously damage the community's trust," said delegate Nguyen Van Huy.
