On November 26, the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee held a conference to summarize the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity during the 13th Party Congress in the province.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vo Van Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission - acknowledged the important achievements that Ca Mau province has achieved in the fight against corruption and waste.
Mr. Dung emphasized that Ca Mau needs to improve political courage, increase determination, and act more decisively, especially in areas where violations are likely to arise. Mr. Dung suggested that Party committees, Party organizations and authorities must promote "soft power" in economy, culture, national defense, security and politics to serve as a foundation for sustainable development. When "soft power" is consolidated, the work of preventing and combating corruption, negativity and waste will be more effective, from building a culture of integrity, raising the sense of responsibility of cadres, to controlling power, supervising public assets and strictly handling violations.

The conference agreed to synchronously implement the goal of "four no's" of impossible, dareless, unwanted and no need for corruption; strengthen coordination between forces, proactively identify sophisticated methods and tricks of corruption criminals, meeting the requirements of building the Party and the political system in the new period.
During the past term, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity in Ca Mau has achieved many positive results. Power control, cadre supervision, public finance management, public assets, inspection, auditing, investigation, prosecution, and trial are implemented synchronously. projects behind schedule, backlogged works, surplus public assets and recoveries of corrupt assets are being vigorously implemented. The supervisory role of elected bodies, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the press and the people continues to be promoted.

The conference also frankly pointed out some remaining limitations such as: in-depth propaganda work, harassment in some agencies, weak appraisal and valuation of damage in some economic cases, and low rate of corrupt asset recovery.
