On the afternoon of October 20, at the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) Le Minh Tri presented a report on the work for the 2021-2026 term.
Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri said that during the 15th National Assembly term, the courts accepted 2,751,104 cases and resolved 2,686,104 cases, reaching a rate of 97.64% (compared to the previous term, they accepted an increase of 317,473 cases and resolved an increase of 310,121 cases).
In 2025 alone, the courts accepted 683,341 cases, resolved and tried 618,341 cases, reaching a rate of 90.49%, 0.77% higher than the previous year (compared to 2024, the number of cases accepted increased by 30,259 cases, resolved and tried increased by 32,409 cases).
The rate of handling all types of cases next year reached higher than the previous year and all exceeded the targets according to the Resolution of the National Assembly.
The quality of settlement and trial continues to be guaranteed and there has been much progress. The rate of judgments and decisions canceled or amended due to subjective reasons every year is lower than the target set by the Resolution of the National Assembly.
At the same time, the work of reforming judicial administrative procedures, applying information technology, digital transformation and the management and use of state budget and public assets have been paid attention to and implemented in accordance with legal regulations, ensuring efficiency and savings.
In addition to the achieved results, according to Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri, the activities of the courts still have some difficulties, problems and limitations.
In which the crime situation, civil disputes, administrative complaints and workload increase every year but the number of staff is not in accordance with requirements;
There are still some damages and decisions that have been amended; some cases of collecting and evaluating evidence are not complete.
Some civil servants have not strictly followed public service discipline, have not practiced to improve political and ethical qualities, leading to being handled according to the regulations of the Party and the law.
The facilities and equipment of some units and courts have not fully met the work needs and after the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus, the facilities have been disrupted, not immediately stable and must have a suitable investment roadmap by 2030.
In the coming time, Chief Justice Le Minh Tri emphasized that the court sector will continue to focus on strictly implementing the National Assembly's resolutions on judicial work, ensuring that the court's judgments are in accordance with the law and truly bring justice to society.
Strengthen institutional building, develop case law, ensure the unified application of the law in trial.
Implement well the settlement and trial of all types of cases and incidents, ensuring that the debate at the trial must be strict, convincing, and in accordance with legal regulations; improve the quality of judgments and decisions right from the first instance stage.
Immediately overcome the situation of judgments and decisions being amended and canceled many times, making decisions unclear and difficult to enforce, prolonging the time to resolve cases to consolidate and build the trust of the people and society in the court sector.
