Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh affirmed that the greatest success recorded during the working visit to the three European countries of the UK, Luxembourg and Germany was that all the partners in contact highly appreciated Vietnam's decision to open a Financial Center, saying that this was not only meaningful for increasing resources for the Vietnamese economy but also making Vietnam a link of the global economic chain.
VNA reported that within the framework of his working visit to Germany, the final stop of his trip to 3 European countries, on the afternoon of March 24, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh had a working session with the European Central Bank (ECB) to discuss the orientation for building and developing an international financial center in Vietnam.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam hopes that the ECB, with its extensive experience, will support the contribution of opinions in building policies for management, attracting investment, controlling risks and preventing money laundering.
ECB President Christine Lagarde acknowledged and highly appreciated the development orientation of Vietnam's Financial Center, saying that he will assign a legal department to support Vietnam in building a legal framework in accordance with the Financial Center.
The ECB also shared about the globally standard independent monitoring mechanism, applied across Europe.
On the same afternoon, the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister attended a seminar on the development of financial centers in Vietnam jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, the Embassy of Vietnam in Germany and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister suggested that German experts and businesses come to Vietnam to participate in building the Financial Center, becoming the first foreign investors to be present at the International Financial Center of Vietnam.
Speakers appreciated Vietnam's decision to build an international financial center, were impressed with Vietnam's comprehensive and innovative approach and also said that the visit of the delegation led by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh to London, Luxembourg and Frankfurt, the three major financial centers of the world, was a wise choice, which could help Vietnam gather valuable information and experience for building a financial center.
