On the afternoon of January 21, at the 25th Session (session to resolve arising work), the People's Council of Lao Cai province, term XVI, 2021 - 2026, passed resolutions related to the establishment, merger, and dissolution of many villages and residential groups in the area and the establishment of specialized departments under the Provincial People's Committee.
Resolutions related to the establishment of specialized departments under the People's Committee of Lao Cai province include: establishing the Department of Home Affairs on the basis of merging the Department of Home Affairs with the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs.
Establish the Department of Science and Technology on the basis of merging the Department of Science and Technology with the Department of Information and Communications.
Establish the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the basis of merging the Department of Culture and Sports with the Department of Tourism.
Establish the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions on the basis of the Ethnic Minorities Committee receiving additional functions, tasks, and organization of the state management apparatus on religion from the Department of Home Affairs.
Establish the Department of Construction on the basis of merging the Department of Construction with the Department of Transport.
Establish the Department of Agriculture and Environment on the basis of merging the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
In addition, the People's Council of Lao Cai province passed a resolution on the establishment, merger and dissolution of villages and residential groups in Sa Pa town and Lao Cai city.
Accordingly, after the dissolution and establishment of new villages, Sa Pa town will retain 85 villages and 27 residential groups; Lao Cai city will reduce 6 villages and residential groups, leaving 83 villages and 216 residential groups.
