According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on February 21, in Ho Chi Minh City, a high-level meeting was held between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) co-chaired by General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and Chairman of the CPP, Chairman of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen. This is an important event to further strengthen good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia in the new situation.
At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam and Chairman of the CPP Hun Sen expressed their delight and appreciated the increasingly extensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples in various fields, contributing significantly to socio-economic development and enhancing the position and prestige of each country in the region and the world.
CPP Chairman Hun Sen expressed his delight at the remarkable development of Vietnam's socio-economy; highly appreciated the drastic implementation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by General Secretary To Lam in streamlining the apparatus at all levels; considering this a good lesson for Cambodia to learn from. He highly appreciated the good development of relations between the two countries in recent times in all fields, and emphasized the need to propagate to the younger generations of the two countries the historical value of bilateral relations, the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the two Parties, the two countries and the people of Vietnam and Cambodia.
General Secretary To Lam and President of the CPP Hun Sen both emphasized that solidarity and mutual assistance between the two Parties and countries is inevitably objective, the laws of history are one of the greatest sources of strength, of vital significance to the revolutionary cause, building and defending the Fatherland of the two Parties and two countries and is a valuable asset of the two peoples that needs to continue to be preserved, nurtured and passed on to future generations.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach special importance to and give high priority to consolidating and developing good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability with the Cambodian People's Party, State and people of Cambodia.
The two leaders agreed to continue to strengthen political relations to guide the overall relationship between the two Parties and two countries, develop good relations between the two leaders, effectively implement high-level agreements between the two Parties and two countries, enhance cooperation in the fields of national defense and security, promote economic, trade, cultural, educational and tourism cooperation commensurate with the potential and strengths of each country and the relationship between the two Parties and two countries, and at the same time strengthen effective and substantive cooperation between Party and National Assembly agencies, ministries, branches of the Government, the Fatherland Front, people's organizations and localities of the two countries, creating a strong impression in the relationship between the two countries in the new development stage, serving the practical interests of the people of the two countries.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Hun Manet agreed with the major assessments and orientations of General Secretary To Lam and Chairman of the HunPP on the comprehensive and profound relations between the two Parties and countries and supplemented and clarified the results achieved in implementing the Conclusion of the 2023 Bi-Party Summit on the fields of cooperation in politics - foreign affairs, defense - security, economy, education, legal framework, culture - tourism; frankly pointed out the limitations that need to be overcome and agreed on a number of key contents that need to be implemented soon in the coming time, especially the implementation of initiatives on connecting the two economies of Vietnam - Cambodia as well as the three economies of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
