On the afternoon of November 28, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, who is on a state visit to Vietnam.
According to VNA, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam supports Cambodia's vision and development orientation in the new period.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship has gone through many challenges in the struggle for national liberation of each country as well as in the cause of national development today. The two countries need to promote the precious tradition that was cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and the late King Norodom Sihanouk and the leaders of the two countries through the ages, and continue to help each other in building and developing the country.
The General Secretary affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember the support and assistance of the Senate, National Assembly, Government, army and people of Cambodia for the Vietnamese people in the past struggle for national liberation and in the present-day national construction; emphasizing that the Party and State of Vietnam always attach importance to and give top priority to building and developing the relationship between the two countries to continuously develop well.
King Norodom Sihamoni congratulated the great and historic achievements that the Vietnamese people have made in the cause of renovation, construction and development of the country, and firmly believed that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnamese people will continue to gain new and greater achievements, successfully realizing the goals set by the Party.
The King of Cambodia affirmed that General Secretary To Lam's visit to Cambodia last July in his capacity as President had historical significance, contributing to consolidating the special good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia.
The Cambodian King expressed his deep gratitude for the great, valuable, timely and effective support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Cambodia in the struggle to gain and protect independence and escape from the genocidal regime in the past, as well as in the current national construction; affirmed the desire and high determination of the Cambodian leaders and people to continue to foster and preserve the relationship between the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam thanked the Cambodian King for his sentiments towards Vietnam, affirming that the King's visit this time is an important event, a milestone contributing to further strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam respectfully invited the King and Queen Mother of Cambodia to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.
