On February 24, in Hanoi, the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform (Steering Committee) held its first meeting in 2025 to announce the Decision to complete the Steering Committee and the Politburo's Regulations on the functions, tasks, powers, and working relationships of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform; give opinions on the results of judicial reform in the past time, key tasks in 2025, the 2025 Work Program of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform and the Working Regulations of the Steering Committee; and give opinions on a number of contents on reviewing and evaluating the law related to the death penalty and execution of the death penalty.
Comrade Luong Cuong, Politburo member, President, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, after listening to the Central Internal Affairs Committee and the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee report on the results of judicial reform work in the past time, key tasks in 2025, the Steering Committee assessed that in 2024, despite many difficulties and challenges, the Steering Committee and members of the Steering Committee have focused on leading and directing relevant agencies and organizations to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the Party's policies and guidelines on judicial reform stated in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress, resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Central Executive Committee, Politburo and Secretariat, especially Resolution No. 27-NQ/TW, dated November 9, 2022 "Once to continue building and perfecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the new period and achieving positive results".

Specifically, it has given opinions before the National Assembly reviewed and approved 3 laws and 11 resolutions related to the organization and operation of the judiciary; directed agencies to review and clarify the problems and inadequacies in legal documents on the judiciary.
The central judicial agencies have summarized the implementation of the law, issued many documents guiding the implementation of the provisions of the Civil Code, the Civil Procedure Code, the Criminal Code, and the Criminal Procedure Code.
Pay attention to directing the completion of the organizational apparatus, investing in facilities, building a team of cadres, especially cadres with clean, strong judicial positions, sufficient in quantity, quality, meeting requirements and tasks.

Along with that, central judicial agencies have increased supervision, inspection, self-inspection activities, promoted discipline and discipline of public duties; effectively implemented breakthrough solutions to improve the quality of investigation, prosecution, trial, and enforcement activities; promoted and improved the quality of litigation at court sessions in a practical and effective manner, contributing to controlling power, preventing corruption, waste, negativity, preventing injustice, mistakes and abandoning crimes; strictly implementing the policy of thrift and fighting waste in investment, building headquarters, evidence warehouses, equipment, and technical means to serve the work of fighting crime, fighting enforcement and judicial appraisal; enhancing the application of information technology, digital transformation to improve the quality, efficiency of legal activities, supplementing legal reform, supplementing legal procedures, and directing the organization and operation of the entire legal system to streamline and effectively organize the organization and operation of the entire legal system.
At the meeting, the Steering Committee also highly agreed with the draft 2025 work program and the Working Regulations of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform.
