On the afternoon of December 29, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo Member, President Luong Cuong received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Vietnam Chea Kimtha to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of his term of office.
Expressing joy at the important achievements that Cambodia has achieved in the past time in building and developing the country, the President believed that under the glorious reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, along with the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party, the State and the Cambodian Government, Cambodia will continue to achieve more great and comprehensive achievements, towards peace, stability, and prosperous development.
The President affirmed that the traditional solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia are of strategic significance, and are an important foundation for the two countries to jointly maintain peace, stability, and sustainable development in the context of many regional and world changes.
The President was pleased with the positive results in the friendly relations between the two countries, in which the relationship between the two Parties is oriented; defense and security cooperation continues to be a pillar; economic cooperation is a bright spot with good bilateral trade turnover growth.
Cooperation in education and training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges continues to be promoted, contributing to strengthening understanding and long-term bonds between the people of the two countries.
Highly appreciating the recent positive developments in handling the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, the President affirmed that Vietnam welcomes the signing by the two countries of a Joint Statement agreeing on a ceasefire and measures to de-escalate tensions at the border between the two countries; supporting all parties to resolve disagreements by peaceful means, on the basis of international law and ASEAN solidarity.
Sincerely thanking the President for taking the time to receive him, Cambodian Ambassador Chea Kimtha expressed his gratitude to the President and Vietnamese leaders for always caring and creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to successfully complete the task of connecting and promoting friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries during his term in Vietnam.
Expressing joy at the positive development of the Vietnam-Cambodia friendly relations, the Ambassador said that the achieved results are clearly shown through increasingly vibrant delegation exchanges at all levels, contributing to consolidating political trust and strengthening mutual understanding between the two countries. The Ambassador affirmed that the friendship between the two countries is a precious asset that generations of leaders and people of the two countries have painstakingly built and nurtured.
The Ambassador congratulated Vietnam on its rapid development and important achievements in the past time; highly appreciated Vietnam's policy of reform and streamlining the apparatus, believing that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party, Vietnam will continue to achieve great achievements, successfully completing the two goals of becoming a developed country with modern industry and high middle-income by 2030; and becoming a developed country with high income by 2045.
Ambassador Chea Kimtha also highly appreciated Vietnam's role in promoting dialogue, building trust and resolving disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
