On the afternoon of November 1 (local time), within the framework of attending the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week and working bilaterally in Korea, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong received Chairman of the Korea International Exchange Fund (KF) Kim Ghee Whan.
Speaking at the meeting, President Luong Cuong acknowledged the efforts of the Korea International Exchange Fund in recent times to demonstrate its pioneering role in the field of cultural diplomacy, consolidating the humane foundation for the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
President Luong Cuong affirmed that after more than 30 years of friendly cooperation, Vietnam and Korea are now mutually top partners in many fields, in which the field of cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges are areas that the Korea International Exchange Fund is always focusing on.
President Luong Cuong suggested that based on the potential strengths and affection for the people of Vietnam, the Korea International Exchange Fund continue to promote the people's culture of the two countries; continue to promote its pioneering role in expanding cooperation with Vietnam; promote cooperation in teaching Korean in Vietnam, especially teacher training, curriculum development and professional exchange, meeting the increasing demand for Korean learning in Vietnam.
Along with that, President Luong Cuong hopes that the fund will coordinate to organize events to introduce and promote Vietnamese culture in Korea and Korean culture in Vietnam; support research, digitalization and preservation of cultural heritage, especially cooperation projects between research institutes, museums and universities of the two countries as well as promote people-to-people exchanges through art, sports, cuisine and fashion.
Agreeing with the opinions of the Chairman of the Korea International Exchange Fund, President Luong Cuong emphasized that there is still a lot of room for the fund to cooperate with Vietnam in cultural promotion exchanges, in which the need for mutual language understanding is extremely important.
The President hopes that the Korea International Exchange Fund will continue to coordinate and invest in the field of cultural exchange, contributing to promoting the inter-state relationship, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Also at the reception, President Luong Cuong presented souvenirs to President of the Korea International Exchange Fund Kim Ghee Whan; presented exhibits to the ASEAN Cultural Center.
President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and the Chairman of the Korea International Exchange Fund also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and the ASEAN-KF Cultural Center, an important milestone affirming the long-term cooperation commitment, jointly promoting exchanges, understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited the Setting Art Exhibition Space "Vietnamese Folk Toys: Connection" organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Busan in coordination with the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) and the ASEAN Cultural Center - KF.
