On the evening of September 10, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife hosted a solemn reception for Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn and Phu Quan.
President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam and Australia, although geographically far apart, have many similarities; the two countries share many strategic benefits and visions on regional and international issues, sharing the aspiration to build a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developed Asia-Pacific region.
Proud of the journey that has been gone through in the history of bilateral relations, the President expressed his pleasure at welcoming Most Mr. Sam Mostyn as the first Australian senior leader to visit Vietnam since the two countries upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024.
With outstanding achievements over the past half century and the good results of this visit to Vietnam, President Luong Cuong believes that the Vietnam - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop to new heights, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

In his acceptance speech, Venerable Sam Mostyn respectfully thanked the hospitality and warm welcome of the Government and people of Vietnam.
Ms. Sam Mostyn shared that this is her first official visit to Vietnam as Governor-General of Australia, but she has been to Vietnam more than 30 years ago and has visited many places in the land of Vietnam to welcome guests.
Governor-General Sam Mostyn affirmed that today, Australia's stability, prosperity and security are deeply linked with countries in the region and Vietnam is the leading country in these linkages.
On the basis of understanding and strategic trust, as well as through regional cooperation, including ASEAN, Ms. Sam Mostyn emphasized that Australia is a steadfast and reliable partner in Vietnam's journey towards becoming a high-income country by 2045.
The Australian government believes that the two countries' upgrading of diplomatic relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024 is a historic milestone, reflecting the deep strategic trust and common aspirations of the two countries. Since then, two-way trade between the two countries has been growing, and both sides have also pledged to cooperate in combating climate change, aiming to achieve net zero emissions commitments and ensure sustainable economic development.
Stating that education is also a focus of cooperation between the two countries, Ms. Sam Mostyn affirmed that education is a solid path towards a better future and is just one of many routes that Australia and Vietnam are cooperating to build a better future for both countries.
