On the afternoon of December 13, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Algeria to Vietnam Sofiane Chaib who came to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of his term of office.
According to VNA, at the reception, President Luong Cuong congratulated the Ambassador on being trusted by the Algerian Government and appointed to the position of Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; expressing his hope that in his new position and with special affection during his term in Vietnam, the Ambassador will continue to pay attention to and promote measures to further deepen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria in all fields.
Appreciating Algeria's important role and position in Africa, the President affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional relationship and friendly cooperation with Algeria; believes that the two sides will continue to strengthen deeper cooperation in all fields, especially politics - diplomacy, economics - trade - investment, culture, education, and people-to-people exchange, to match the potential of each country.
Ambassador Sofiane Chaib respectfully conveyed the Algerian President's congratulations to President Luong Cuong on being elected to his new position by the Vietnamese National Assembly; and congratulated Vietnam on its many achievements on the path of national renewal and development.
Ambassador Sofiane Chaib said that during his tenure in Vietnam, he has made continuous efforts to foster the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two countries, especially in organizing the Intergovernmental Committee Meeting; closely coordinating with ministries and branches to implement conclusions and specific actions in bilateral cooperation.
The Algerian Ambassador expressed his honor to contribute to promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries, affirming that after returning to Algeria to take up a new assignment, no matter what position he holds, he will always maintain the image of Vietnam, a country rich in historical and cultural traditions, as well as dynamic economic development and an increasingly enhanced role and position in the international arena.
The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude to the ministries, departments, branches and localities of Vietnam for always warmly welcoming and creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to fulfill his duties during his term.
President Luong Cuong highly appreciated the Ambassador's contributions during his time working in Vietnam, contributing to fostering and strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries; at the same time, through the Ambassador, he sent congratulations to the Government and people of Algeria on the achievements they have made in the cause of national construction and development.
The President and the Ambassador agreed that the two countries need to continue supporting each other at multilateral forums, joining hands to contribute to peace, stability and sustainable development in the two regions and the world.
The President wished the Ambassador continued success in his new position and that in any position he would continue to make practical contributions to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria.
On this occasion, Ambassador Sofiane Chaib extended an invitation from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the President to visit Algeria at a suitable time. The President happily accepted the invitation and expressed his hope to soon welcome the Algerian President to Vietnam.
