On the morning of March 18, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Dominican Communities on the occasion of presenting their credentials to take office in Vietnam.
Receiving Cambodian Ambassador Touch Pharat, President Luong Cuong congratulated the Ambassador on taking office in Vietnam, believing that with diplomatic experience, the Ambassador will make many positive contributions, contributing to promoting good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries.
Ambassador Touch Pharat congratulated Vietnam on successfully completing the election of delegates to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels on March 15. The Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude to Vietnam for helping Cambodia escape the previous genocidal regime as well as the current national development process; Vietnam always creates conditions for human resource training, scholarship support, and creates conditions for Cambodian students to study in Vietnam.
Congratulating Mr. Thamer Mohammed al-Gosaibi on being appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Vietnam, President Luong Cuong wished the Ambassador to make positive contributions to the friendly and multifaceted cooperation relations between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia.
Referring to the tensions in the Middle East region, the President expressed hope that peace and stability will soon be restored in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region; and thanked Saudi Arabia for supporting ensuring security and safety for Vietnamese citizens, creating favorable conditions for evacuation activities of Vietnamese citizens transiting in Saudi Arabia.
President Luong Cuong proposed that the two sides study building a strategic crude oil reserve for Southeast Asia in Vietnam to store and transship crude oil and refining and petrochemical products for export to Southeast Asian markets.
Ambassador Thamer Mohammed al-Gosaibi affirmed that during his term of office, he will make efforts to actively contribute to promoting friendly relations and bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia.
The Ambassador also affirmed that he will make efforts to promote the concretization of cooperation agreements that the two sides have signed, contributing to bringing bilateral relations into depth, practicality and efficiency.
In addition, Saudi Arabia is ready to support Vietnam in developing the Halal sector, as well as other sectors suitable to the needs and potentials of the two countries.
Congratulating Mr. Jean-Francois Harvey on being appointed as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Dominica to Vietnam, President Luong Cuong said that Vietnam values Dominica's role and position in the Caribbean and Latin America.
The President believes that the Ambassador will be a positive bridge to further consolidate and develop bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Dominican Commonwealth; affirming that the State and Vietnamese ministries and sectors will closely coordinate and create all favorable conditions for the Ambassador to successfully complete his term of office in Vietnam.
Ambassador Jean-Francois Harvey expressed his pleasure to receive his assignment in Vietnam and said that Vietnam is the first Dominican country to establish an Embassy in Southeast Asia; affirmed that the Dominican government always values Vietnam's role and position in the region and in the world. The Ambassador pledged to make every effort to gradually promote and expand relations with Vietnam in all fields in the coming years.
