On the morning of February 1st, at the Can Tho City Party Committee, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the central working delegation visited and presented Tet gifts to retired officials through various periods, policy families and workers on the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.
The delegation was attended by Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong.
Speaking at the Tet greeting ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of Party and State leaders, wished the Party Committee and government of Can Tho City, retired officials through various periods, policy families and workers a joyful and warm Tet.
The National Assembly Chairwoman emphasized that the work of caring for policy families and the poor needs to be carried out regularly and continuously, ensuring that everyone fully enjoys the policies of the Party and the State.
The National Assembly Chairwoman also informed that in 2025, although the world and regional context are still facing many difficulties, our country has overcome challenges and achieved important results.
According to the National Assembly Chairwoman, in 2026, the whole country strives to achieve double-digit growth; Can Tho City must also strive to achieve this goal so that by 2030, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Party's establishment, our country becomes a country with a fairly average income.
Towards the 100th anniversary of the country's founding in 2045, the goal is to make Vietnam a high-income country. Therefore, the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress needs to be carried out right from the first month, the first quarter of 2026.
The National Assembly Chairwoman stated clearly that Can Tho City needs to develop a specific action program to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress. At the same time, the city must have a detailed plan on socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security and building a strong political system; in which special attention should be paid to building a strategy for training and developing human resources.
The National Assembly Chairwoman emphasized that it is necessary to focus highly on the cause of education, training and science and technology development. Can Tho City is an area with an important strategic position in the Mekong Delta region, where the Command of Military Region 9 is located, so special attention must be paid to the tasks of national defense and security, ensuring political stability and social order and safety.
In addition, the National Assembly Chairwoman noted that internal solidarity is an extremely important issue, a foundation for creating consensus, joint efforts, and unity in the entire Party Committee and People. All policies and goals, no matter how large, need to be concretized by the actions of the contingent of officials and the active participation of each citizen and each family, thereby contributing to building Can Tho City into a central city with comprehensive development, strong in socio-economics, and a livable city of the Southwest region.
