The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision to establish a Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in Ho Chi Minh City (abbreviated as Steering Committee 389 of Ho Chi Minh City).
According to the decision, the Steering Committee 389 of Ho Chi Minh City has 23 members, of which Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc will hold the role of Head of the Committee. Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is the Standing Deputy Head of the Committee.
The four Deputy Heads of the Committee include: Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Tran Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police; Mr. Tran Van Cu - Deputy Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command; Mr. Do Thanh Quang - Deputy Head of the Customs Sub-Department of Area II.
The Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee 389 is responsible for advising, organizing, directing and coordinating forces to fight and prevent smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the area. The Committee will issue a directive document in accordance with the actual situation and direction of the Central Government; at the same time, coordinate the coordination between departments, branches, localities and functional forces.
Along with that, the work of propagating, receiving and handling reports on smuggling and counterfeit goods will be strengthened, combined with the establishment of interdisciplinary inspection teams when necessary. The Committee also focuses on coordinating with the Steering Committee 389 of provinces and cities; at the same time, proposing to reward collectives and individuals with achievements and strictly handling cases of cover-up and support for violations. Regularly summarizing, reporting and recommending solutions is also one of the key tasks to improve the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
Along with the establishment of the Steering Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also decided to establish the Standing Agency of the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee 389 consisting of 34 members, headed by Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade.
The standing agency has the function of advising and assisting the Heads of the Committees in many fields, from developing and implementing programs and plans to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods to reviewing and recommending amendments to related mechanisms and policies. At the same time, this agency also coordinated with units, urged the implementation of the direction of the National Steering Committee 389, the Government and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; proactively grasped the situation, identified violation tricks to develop thematic plans; received and processed hotline information.
The standing agency also advises on rewarding, handling violations, promoting propaganda, international cooperation, scientific research and applying modern technology, thereby improving the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the area.
