Reporting on the results of work in 2024 and some key tasks in 2025, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Le Quang Tung said that in 2024, with great efforts and determination for the interests of the nation and people above all, the agencies united and unanimously overcame all difficulties and completed a huge amount of work.
In 2024, policies and instructions on innovation in thinking in law-making, innovation, streamlining of the organizational apparatus and anti-waste were urgently disseminated and directed for implementation throughout the agency.
Research, consulting, and service work is professional, effective, and has many improvements and innovations, especially innovations in legislative thinking and in building meeting and session agendas.
Concluding the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that in 2024, the National Assembly decided on many important issues, creating breakthroughs to complete infrastructure, maximizing resources, with many historic decisions.
Typically, the National Assembly passed a Resolution on the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project; the policy to restart investment in the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project; the adjustment of the investment policy for the Long Thanh International Airport project; and the establishment of Hue city under the central government.
The National Assembly has also passed many mechanisms and policies to promptly resolve national and people's livelihood issues, support and improve people's material and spiritual lives such as: The Law on Health Insurance (amended) stipulates step-by-step connection and communication in health insurance examination and treatment; unanimously prohibiting the production, trading, import, harboring, transporting and using electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, gases and addictive substances that are harmful to human health from 2025...
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted a number of key tasks that need to be focused on in 2025. In particular, focusing on implementing the summary of Resolution 18-NQ/TW in accordance with the direction of the Central Committee; completing projects, regulations, and documents to ensure progress for submission to the Central Committee Conference in mid-February 2025 and the extraordinary session of the National Assembly in late February 2025.
During this process, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man believes that the agencies of the National Assembly, agencies under the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly Office will lead and direct the implementation of ideological work well, feel secure and confident in the Party's leadership, not waver or be pessimistic; unite into a unified bloc, join hands and hearts, and together successfully carry out the revolution of streamlining the apparatus of the political system, so that the apparatus can operate truly effectively.
The National Assembly Chairman proposed to urgently prepare conditions for the organization of the 9th Extraordinary Session in February 2025. Along with that, continue to improve and innovate more strongly the methods and ways of conducting National Assembly Sessions in the direction of shorter discussions and questioning, focusing on going to the end, clarifying the issues raised, and increasing the discussion time in groups.
