Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung said that the success of the visit was clearly demonstrated in many outstanding marks.
The first is the participation of General Secretary To Lam and his wife at the 50th Anniversary of the Lao National Day Ceremony, demonstrating the solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, mutual respect for the achievements of the two Parties and two countries, true to the tradition and motto "your victory is also your victory".
The Lao leaders and people were also very touched and assessed this as a great source of encouragement from their comrades and brothers in Vietnam. The respect that the Lao Party, State and People have for Vietnam has been clearly demonstrated through the warm, affectionate and respectful reception from the airport to all the locations that the General Secretary and his wife and the delegation have visited.
Responding to that sincerity, General Secretary To Lam's speech at the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration clearly stated the tradition of relations between the two peoples, between the two Parties and the two countries in the entire process of fighting for independence, building, protecting and developing the country; the achievements of the Vietnamese people achieved through their efforts, with the help of international friends and especially the very important support of the Lao Party, State and People; the political determination of Vietnam and the direction of Vietnam and Laos to rise together in the coming period.
Secondly, during this visit, the two Parties and countries agreed to take relations to a new height. Up to now, Vietnam and Laos have continued to promote their 12-word relationship according to the 12-word motto "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation", now the relationship between the two countries has been raised to 16 golden words with a new element of "stratetical linkage".
This demonstrates the common vision, common orientation and common efforts of the two peoples on strategic issues in the new period, not only in politics but also in closely linked economy through infrastructure connection, economic development planning and special linkage between the people of the two countries, promoting existing traditions, mechanisms and methods.
The third very important result based on the new strategic orientation is that the two sides have agreed to concretize strategic cooperation directions in the coming time, in which political cooperation is the spearhead, the guiding principle of Vietnam - Laos relations; national defense and security are one of the important pillars to ensure peace and stability of the two countries for development; socio-economic cooperation must be a breakthrough for the two countries to rise up together in the coming time, strongly promoting the tradition between the two peoples.
Another very important factor is that the visit takes place right before the two Parties and countries look forward to the 2026 Party Congress.
On this occasion, the two sides summarized, evaluated achievements and proposed future orientations, fostering common strength for the two Parties and two countries ready to enter a new era of development for the two peoples. That source of strength is a great motivation for Vietnam and Laos to have more launching pads for further development.
On this occasion, the Lao Party and State presented General Secretary To Lam with the National Gold Medal, Laos's most noble medal to recognize General Secretary To Lam's great contributions to the Laos - Vietnam relationship.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that this historic visit has opened a new chapter, bringing the relationship between the two parties and countries to a new strategic level, with new content, strategic linkages and very specific cooperation directions.
In the coming time, Vietnam and Laos must continue to maintain and develop awareness of the importance of the 16. gilded relationship "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic solidarity".
That is the top important strength foundation for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland of both Vietnam and Laos; an inevitable and objective historical law in the development process of the two Parties and two countries.
