Vietnam - Laos add new content to bilateral relations

Vietnam - Laos agreed to add a new content: "Grate friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic solidarity".

On the morning of December 1, General Secretary To Lam held talks with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, deepen the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries through existing cooperation mechanisms, high-level visits and exchanges in flexible forms, information, ideological foundations, strategic policies, and theoretical exchanges, especially on new issues; closely coordinate to support the organization of important events of the two countries, in the immediate future the Party Congresses of each country, thereby continuing to affirm the new height of Vietnam - Laos political relations.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting and innovating the content and forms of propaganda and education on the traditional history of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos for cadres, Party members, people and young generations of the two countries; arousing pride, responsibility and awareness of preserving and promoting the common, pure and strategic bond between the two Parties and two peoples.

On the basis of inheriting and promoting the tradition of special solidarity, the two sides agreed to deepen bilateral relations by adding new content: "Grand friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic solidarity". This is an affirmation of the common vision, intertwined strategic benefits and long-term companionship orientation for the common goal of sustainable development, self-reliance and prosperity of the two peoples.

The two leaders emphasized that defense and security cooperation between the two countries is increasingly tight and increasingly effective, an important pillar in the relationship between the two countries continuing to have new, in-depth and effective development steps, the results achieved in cooperation in these areas are very positive; building a stable and sustainable border between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting defense and security cooperation, closely coordinating and supporting each other in responding to increasingly diverse and complex security challenges; linking security and defense with socio-economic development.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen strong connections in economy, infrastructure, banking - finance, tourism of the two countries, deploy effective measures to strive to increase turnover to 5 billion USD in the near future and towards 10 billion USD in the coming time, associated with strengthening connectivity in transport infrastructure, energy, logistics; enhancing exchanges of experiences in macroeconomic management, preventing corruption.

The two sides agreed to promote the implementation of agreements to support each other in building an independent and self-reliant economy, enhancing the exchange of experiences in macroeconomic management and institutional reform; closely coordinating to resolve bottlenecks, creating conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to effectively implement and expand investment projects in Laos, making practical contributions to the socio-economic development of Laos; regularly coordinating to inspect and urge the implementation of projects using aid capital, ensuring progress, efficiency and quality.

The two leaders agreed to strongly promote and create breakthroughs in economic, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation; agreed to promote connectivity in energy transportation, telecommunications, and tourism; continue to improve the quality of education, training and human resource development, focusing on training high-quality human resources; promote people-to-people and inter-local exchanges, considering this a strategic pillar contributing to strengthening the bond and consolidating the foundation of long-term solidarity between the two peoples.
