On the morning of November 26, Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee on Justice Le Thi Nga presented a report on the review of reports on crime prevention and control and law violations in 2024.
According to Chairwoman Le Thi Nga, in 2024, the Government will make many efforts and propose many effective solutions to combat crime and law violations.
The police force has deployed many measures to quickly handle hot spots and organized crime groups; detected and strictly handled many serious and complicated corruption and economic cases.
The work of ensuring internal political security and combating terrorism is being carried out synchronously and comprehensively. At the same time, internal conflicts among the people are being proactively detected and resolved early, right from the start and at the grassroots level.
According to Director Le Thi Nga, crimes and violations of social order laws are still increasing in both the number of cases and the number of injured people. Some types of crimes have increased sharply, such as: organized crime increased by 46.08%, fraud and property appropriation increased by 83.36%, embezzlement increased by 45.61%, and online gambling increased by 105.22%.
There have been a number of brutal and reckless murders, causing anger, anxiety and insecurity among the people.
State management in some areas is still inadequate. Some current legal regulations in the fields of economics, finance, and enterprises are not specific and strict, leading to the fact that units and people with positions and powers have taken advantage of, "connected with, and guided" enterprises to "circumvent the law" or ignored violations of enterprises.
The situation of groups of young people gathering through social networks, using weapons and firearms to resolve conflicts and disrupt public order has become complicated, and crimes and law violations committed by minors continue to increase.
The number of child abuse cases continues to increase and become more complicated. State management in the issuance of corporate bonds and stocks still has many shortcomings. There are many violations in bidding, auctioning, and compensation for site clearance in investment, construction, and exploitation of resources and land.
In 2024, the work of detecting and handling violations of the law and crimes achieved many positive results, such as: the total number of cases/defendants detected and prosecuted increased, basically very serious and especially serious cases were urgently investigated and clarified.
956 cases of corruption and position-related crimes were detected, an increase of 20.55%. This result shows that the fight against corruption and negativity under the leadership of the Party is increasingly fierce and strong, with no forbidden areas and no exceptions.
Many new methods and tricks of economic crime, corruption, and smuggling have been discovered in a number of fields and in the fight against drug crimes.
However, the results of detecting violations of the law and crimes in some areas still need to be noted. Accordingly, in some cases, the authorities have not yet promptly detected, handled and had effective solutions to prevent, leading to the situation of illegal drug use at some conditional business establishments still being complicated.
The work of detecting and handling violations of the law and environmental crimes is not commensurate with the actual situation; the number of detected cases has decreased compared to 2023.
