On June 24, in Vinh City, the Military Region 4 Command held a ceremony to announce the Ministry of National Defense's decision on merging and reorganizing local military agencies in 5 provinces and cities.
Attending and directing the ceremony were Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense. Also attending were leaders of the General Staff, the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 4 and related localities.
Accordingly, the Ministry of National Defense decided to establish 5 Border Guard Command Committees (BDBP) under the Military Commands of the provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Hue City; at the same time, merge the Quang Binh Provincial Military Command and the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command into the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command.
In addition to merging provincial command agencies, the Military Region 4 Command also announced the establishment of 21 regional defense command committees under the provincial military commands.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Hong Thai emphasized that the reorganization of the local military system this time is a step to concretize the Party Central Committee's policy on streamlining the political system apparatus in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency; at the same time, meeting the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Hong Thai requested the 4th Military Region and units to carry out their ideological work well, quickly stabilize the organization, staffing, perfect the Party organizations and commands, and ensure effective operations immediately after the merger. At the same time, focus on the handover and management of assets and facilities, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulations.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Thai noted that it is necessary to proactively coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense's agencies, promptly remove difficulties, learn from experience and perfect a new organizational model to build a strong local military force, closely attached to the two-level government, serving the task of building and defending the Fatherland.
