Speaking at the opening of the session, Mr. Ngo Xuan Thang - Chairman of the People's Council of Da Nang City said that despite many difficulties, with the spirit of urgency from the beginning of the year, identifying 2025 as a breakthrough year to complete the goals and tasks according to the resolution of the 32nd Congress of the City Party Committee, along with the attention and support of the Central Committee, the entire political system strives to take drastic, strong and timely action, along with the consensus of the people and the active participation of the business community, the city continues to achieve many results in all aspects of work.
According to Mr. Ngo Xuan Thang, the economy of Da Nang City in the first 6 months of the year is estimated to increase by 11.03%, being one of the localities that continued to maintain growth of over 10%, with many targets and indicators higher than the previous quarter and the same period. Some industries maintained high growth rates.
The service and tourism sectors have developed strongly with many new, unique and vibrant activities, festivals and tourism products. In particular, a series of special events were held to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the City Party Committee, the 50th anniversary of the City Liberation, and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South - National Reunification.
The city has started construction and inaugurated many key projects and works, with budget revenue estimated at 61.4% of the estimate and 116% over the same period. Implement well social security programs, complete the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the city.
Regarding the activities of the City People's Council, 2 thematic sessions have been held to consider and decide on urgent and important issues of the city.
In particular, issuing resolutions to specify specific policies and mechanisms in Resolution 136 of the National Assembly, resolutions on arranging and organizing the apparatus, merging administrative units at ward and commune levels, and related work to prepare the local government at both levels of the city to come into operation.
Proactively innovate the method of implementing supervision topics that People's Council delegates and voters are interested in in accordance with practical situations.
"On June 30, together with the whole country, Da Nang will announce the establishment of the new Da Nang city on the basis of merging the current Quang Nam province and Da Nang city, and organizing 2-level local government activities, so this 24th session has a special and historic element, this is the last session of the Da Nang City People's Council after 28 years of Da Nang City becoming an administrative unit directly under the Central Government.
Therefore, the session needs to focus on discussing, evaluating and clarifying lessons and experiences in leadership, direction, management and operation, organizing the implementation of tasks in the past time, as a premise, developing solutions and tasks to implement the goals and requirements after the establishment of the new city of Da Nang, with an area of 11,858 km2, a population of more than 3 million people", Mr. Thang emphasized.
