At the thematic session this morning - April 26, the People's Council of Da Nang City passed a Resolution to merge the Department of Tourism and the Department of Culture and Sports to establish the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City.
Previously, on April 15, the Central Steering Committee on the arrangement of administrative units at all levels and the development of a model of organizing local government at two levels oriented the structure of the People's Committees of provinces and cities after the arrangement to include 14 departments and equivalents.
Currently, Da Nang has 14 departments and equivalent, of which 12 departments are organized according to hard structure and 2 specific departments including the Department of Tourism and the Department of Foreign Affairs. Quang Nam province has 13 departments and equivalent, of which 12 departments are organized according to the hard structure and a specific Department of Ethnic and Religious Departments. In order to ensure the number of departments after arranging the provincial administrative unit and convenient in the process of arranging similar departments, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of Da Nang City has agreed on the policy of consolidating the Department of Tourism with the Department of Culture and Sports into the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
After the arrangement, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang city has 9 departments and 11 affiliated public service units. In the immediate future, the current staffing status and number of employees for the Department of Tourism and the Department of Culture and Sports will be transferred to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City officially came into operation from May 1, 2025.
Previously, in December 2024, Da Nang had a policy of retaining the Department of Tourism due to the important role of the industry, contributing more than 62% of the total city budget revenue. However, this policy was adjusted to serve the merger with Quang Nam.
