On the morning of May 6, continuing the 9th Session, the National Assembly discussed in the hall a number of contents with different opinions of the draft Law on Teachers.
Speaking, delegate Be Trung Anh (Tra Vinh delegation) said that national fate depends on education, while the quality of education depends on teachers. If this is the determination, do not give teachers preferential terms.
For them, every sincere and self-respecting teacher does not allow them to receive any incentives, they just need society to properly assess their special role with worthy treatment.
"We feel that teachers in the past are more respected than they are now. At that time, they had the conditions and enthusiasm for their boat driving profession, without needing to think more seriously because no one around them earned more. But now everything is different, many professions have overcome, leaving teachers still confused with stable salaries at a level that are not enough to cover expenses," said the delegate.
To teach, maintain the profession and prove the path chosen, so that their children can be like their friends, teachers have to work extra like online sales, teachers travel by motorbike taxi, and many teachers work as salt farmers. The delegate said that if so, no one will cherish a person who does not wholeheartedly devote himself to work, especially teaching.
According to the delegate, when the salary for teaching is not enough to cover their living expenses, that question permeates the depths of every teacher. These are questions that need answers not only for educators.
Regarding school violence, the delegate of Tra Vinh delegation said that recently, a number of incidents have occurred, making the definition of school violence outdated and outdated before it can be added to new behaviors. Teachers are also victims of students and parents. Social opinion partly says that students are at fault, partly says that it is family, school, and teacher.
According to the delegate, regardless of the cause, the underlying cause is that the policy for teachers has not ensured their daily lives so that they can focus on their expertise, be luxurious with their profession, be arrogant with their students and have prestige in society.
The delegate suggested that the National Assembly not only approve and approve this law but also make efforts to adjust it more closely to reality so that teachers do not have to worry about food and money, run meals so that they are proud of their profession, and wholeheartedly devote themselves to teaching.

Delegate Tran Thi Hoa Ry (Bac Lieu delegation) proposed to review and supplement regulations on teachers' right to refuse work that is not in accordance with the job position and contract signed with educational institutions.
Consider and supplement the rights of teachers to choose teaching methods, evaluate students and adjust teaching content close to reality. Limit administrative intervention, be imposing, make the use of specific textbooks mandatory and create a legal corridor for teachers to feel secure in their innovation.
The delegate suggested that there should be a clear framework with a code of professional conduct for each level of education, with more specific evaluation criteria for the field of teachers, avoiding general.
The female delegate also proposed that the drafting committee study and supplement specific policies to train and recruit teachers for teaching speech and writing to preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic minority areas.
Propose to have a specific policy on recruiting teachers for ethnic minorities and people with high professional qualifications to work in ethnic minority areas.
