On the occasion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (Congress XIV), a VNA reporter in New Delhi had an exchange with the General Secretary of the ruling People's Liberation Front (JVP) Party in Sri Lanka, Mr. Tilvin Silva, about the stature of the Congress as well as expectations for Vietnam's new development path.
According to Mr. Tilvin Silva, the 14th Congress will be a historical milestone, creating the foundation for a new leap forward in building socialism and economic growth of Vietnam.
He emphasized that the Congress needs to be seen in the flow of nearly a century of development of the Communist Party of Vietnam since 1930 - a journey marked by the struggle for national independence, national reunification and building a socialist-oriented market economy model.
The General Secretary of the People's Liberation Front Party especially highly appreciated the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the ideological legacy of President Ho Chi Minh, considering this as a foundational inspiration for the development of modern Vietnam.
According to him, it is the strategic decisions passed at previous Congresses that have made Vietnam a country with an increasingly solid position in Asia. Therefore, the 14th Congress - with the role of establishing the ideological, political and organizational orientation of the Party - will continue to be a catalyst to help Vietnam proactively adapt to the new global context and towards the goal of becoming a high-income country.
Referring to the new priorities mentioned in the draft documents of the Congress, such as placing environmental protection on par with socio-economic development, raising the level of foreign affairs and international integration, as well as promoting the role of culture, people and the private economic sector, Mr. Tilvin Silva said that this is a manifestation of modern and responsible development thinking.
In the context of the world facing environmental consequences from rapid industrialization, Vietnam's choice of the path of growth associated with sustainable development is very correct.
According to the leader of the People's Liberation Front Party, the strategic goals to 2030 and vision to 2045 reflect Vietnam's strong aspirations. The milestone of 2030, when celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, is identified by Vietnam as the time to become a developing country with a modern industry and high middle-income income, while the vision to 2045, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, aims to build a developed, high-income socialist state.
To achieve that, he believes that Vietnam needs to maximize the use of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and renewable energy, while improving the efficiency of the production force and social awareness.
General Secretary Tilvin Silva also highly appreciated Vietnam's open and balanced foreign policy, believing that further strengthening international integration will create more opportunities for the Vietnamese people.
Regarding the self-renovation capacity of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the leader of the People's Liberation Front Party affirmed that this is a key factor ensuring the dynamism and vitality of the Party in the new period.
Focusing on discipline, consolidating organization, innovating leadership methods in a scientific, democratic and effective direction, building a socialist rule-of-law state and steadfastly governing with the people at the center will continue to consolidate social trust and ensure the feasibility of development commitments.
In the next 5 years, according to Mr. Tilvin Silva, Vietnam needs to prioritize promoting economic growth associated with perfecting institutions, protecting the environment, maintaining independent, self-reliant and flexible foreign policies, while closely combining with national defense and security. In parallel with that, the task of building, rectifying and modernizing the Party still plays a central role, especially preventing bureaucracy and privileges, and privileges in the contingent of cadres and party members.
General Secretary of the People's Liberation Front Party emphasized that with the development orientation based on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, Vietnam is gradually forming new production forces, creating a foundation for rapid and sustainable growth.
He believes that the development path with people at the center of Vietnam is becoming an inspiration for many developing countries and expressed his belief that the 14th Congress will be successful, opening a new stage of development for the country.
