Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said: According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan, on September 22, a convoy of vehicles including a police escort vehicle and vehicles of ambassadors from 12 countries, including the Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan, was hit by a homemade explosive device in an area of ​​Khybe Pakhtunkhwa state (Pakistan).

A convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device while traveling to the Swat Tourism Development Forum.

The incident left one police officer dead and four others injured. The vehicles carrying ambassadors were safe.

“Vietnam strongly condemns the attack and would like to send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this attack. We hope that Pakistani authorities will ensure security and safety for diplomatic agencies and foreign communities, including Vietnamese, living, studying and working in the host country,” said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

On the same day, September 26, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced that it had formed a committee to investigate the attack on a convoy carrying foreign diplomats.

Previously, CBS News reported that diplomats in the convoy came from Indonesia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Iran, Russia and Tajikistan.
