On September 21, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left for the Future Summit of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, to work in the United States, and then pay a state visit to Cuba at the invitation of First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his wife.

In an interview with the press about the working trip of General Secretary and President To Lam that will last until September 27, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized that over the past 50 years, the relationship between Vietnam and the United Nations has been developing positively, deepening and constantly being consolidated and strengthened. Vietnam has become a reliable, active and responsible partner of the international community as well as the United Nations.

According to Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam "participates more and more proactively and actively, and makes more and more substantial and extensive contributions in terms of ideas, people, and resources in all areas of the United Nations' pillar activities on peacekeeping, security, and development cooperation."

"We are also trusted and have high expectations from the international community, and have successfully held many important positions at the United Nations. The United Nations leadership always highly appreciates Vietnam's role and contributions and hopes that Vietnam will continue to play an increasingly active role in the United Nations' priority areas," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.

"The participation of General Secretary and President To Lam in this event is of great significance. This is the first time that the General Secretary of our Party has directly attended the United Nations General Assembly and is also the first multilateral diplomatic activity of General Secretary and President To Lam at the global international organization United Nations, thereby strongly reaffirming at the highest level the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration comprehensively, deeply and effectively, sharing Vietnam's vision and solutions on the role of the United Nations and major world issues, while demonstrating the deep interest of the Party and State in multilateral cooperation, major agendas of the United Nations and comprehensive relations with the United Nations" - Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang said.

The Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations pointed out that in recent times, Vietnam has achieved many great achievements, enhancing the image of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends, clearly demonstrating that Vietnam is an active, responsible member and proactively participates in most common activities of the United Nations. Vietnam has also put forward many initiatives, clearly demonstrating its readiness to shoulder the common tasks of the United Nations. Through multilateral diplomatic activities, international friends and partners have increasingly trusted Vietnam, contributing to promoting friendly bilateral relations and promoting resources for national development.
