On April 18, in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Standing Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee coordinated with the Standing Committee of the Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee to organize a conference to implement the Central Government's policy on merging provincial-level administrative units.

At the conference, the leaders of the two provinces consider and comment on the draft project of arranging administrative units at the provincial level; Principles and orientations for organizing the organizational structure, personnel and cadre work in the political system; propose and orient the coordination to prepare and develop documents of the Provincial Party Congress Congress, term 2025 - 2029 ...
The conference announced the decision to establish an inter-provincial coordination team to develop and implement the project to reorganize administrative units of the two localities with 42 members.

In which, Permanent Vice Chairman in charge of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Ha is the Head of the Group, Permanent Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee Dao My is the Permanent Deputy Head of the Group.
Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Trung affirmed: "This is a historic working conference. Members of the inter-provincial coordination team need to coordinate smoothly, regularly, closely, ensuring the progress of developing and implementing the Provincial-level Administrative Unit Arrangement Project.
The project development needs to be open to facilitate implementation. The working headquarters of some agencies are expected to arrange a second facility in Phu Yen appropriately to best serve the people".
It is expected that on April 20, the two provinces will organize a consultation with voters representing households in the area on the project to reorganize provincial-level administrative units.
On April 22, the People's Councils at the commune level, the People's Councils at the district level of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces gave their opinions on the content of the project to reorganize provincial-level administrative units.
From April 25 to 26, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Council and the Phu Yen Provincial People's Council met to approve the Resolution on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units. On April 29, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee submitted to the Government a project to reorganize provincial-level administrative units.
After the merger, Dak Lak province has an area of 1,809.640 km2, a population of 3,339,616 people, reaching 226. 20% and 371.07% respectively compared to the standards of 101 administrative units.
